Description:
This project involved the construction of a second exit/entrance building including construction of exit stairwells and associated underground structures from the eastbound and westbound subway platforms and construction of an underground corridor connecting the stairwells. Construction of two (2) new elevator shafts and associated structures and installation of two (2) new elevators from eastbound and westbound platforms to street level including modifications to existing platform and concourse level spaces to accommodate equipment, machine room and other service rooms and all other mechanical and electrical modifications to suit requirements. Other elements of the project included; removal and re-installation of the existing bike racks at the Station entrance to allow for construction activities, install new bike rings at new second exit location; temporary relocation of the existing shed at the 35 Chester Avenue property during the construction of the new north fence and restore it to its original position when the construction of the fence is complete, work shall also include all work associated with the restoration of the existing concrete pad; salvage any existing structural glazed tiles designated for removal and re-use at locations were indicated on the drawings. Salvaged tiles with station names will be returned to TTC.
