Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) Financial Analyst

Buttcon is seeking a qualified financial professional for the position of Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) Financial Analyst. As SDI Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for administrating the development and implementation of the subcontractor prequalification process and advancing Buttcon’s Subtrade Default Insurance (SDI) program. This position is essential in supporting our SDI program and ensuring compliance across our subcontractor partnerships.

Reporting to the Director, Risk Management and working closely with the finance department and company Controller, the SDI Financial Analyst will act as the primary contact for the SDI prequalification software, undertake subtrade pre-qualification process and compliance, conduct financial evaluations including consolidating and analyzing financial data to assess risks using established formulas, carry out periodic audits, verify and report on compliance across trade partners, collaborate with various departments and effectively communicate Subcontractor assessments. Primary focus will be on evaluating the financial stability of trade partners and ensuring compliance with established standards.

Responsibility

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Buttcon's SDI prequalification program.
  • Subcontractor engagement including outreach to subcontractors for financial statement collection and pre-qualification required documentation.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial reviews of subcontractors to ensure compliance with company prequalification requirements and established formulas. This includes analyzing financial performance through statements and ratios, as well as monitoring the qualification status of subtrade partners.
  • Perform audits of financial performance on an annual and periodic basis. Report on findings as required.
  • Roll out the subcontractor prequalification process and enrollment, ensuring alignment with the SDI program's objectives and established standards.
  • Administer the prequalification software, acting as the main point of contact for system-related inquiries and with the provider.
  • Standardize and enhance processes to optimize the new prequalification software and streamline outreach for subcontractor submissions as it relates to use of the system.
  • If required, assist with SDI claims by ensuring proper documentation for claim recovery.
  • Generate regular reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) on key metrics, trends, statuses, and action items, including but not limited to, program and subcontractor statuses, program outcomes, trade assessments, and recommended opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Enter data into spreadsheets and/or system tools.
  • Manage the subcontractor database and associated data, including creating templates (e.g., letters and checklists) and updating policies and procedures to align with the SDI program as needed.
  • Transcribe, interpret, and verify data for correctness.
  • Assist with training and the implementation of the SDI (Subtrade Default Insurance) program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3-5 years of experience, with CPA designation or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and SDI preferred.
  • Experience in auditing, or underwriting, is an asset.
  • Must have a strong understanding of key accounting ratios such as: working capital, liquidity, debt-to-equity, etc.
  • Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with Compass prequalification software is an asset.
