Talent Acquisition Specialist

We are currently looking for a highly skilled, caring, and safety focused individual for our team.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will serve as the primary point of support for hiring managers throughout the full-cycle recruitment and selection process at all levels. This role is crucial in sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent to support Buttcon’s mission, values and objectives. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for coordinating various recruitment activities and ensuring a smooth and positive onboarding experience for new employees.
Responsibility
Recruitment and Selection:
- Provide full-cycle recruitment support for various positions, including full-time, part-time, and student roles.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines to meet current and future hiring needs.
- Manage the recruitment cycle including:
- Preparing job descriptions and job postings for vacant or additional positions.
- Arrange for advertising or posting of job vacancies.
- Process and review employment applications to evaluate the eligibility of applicants.
- Conduct initial screening interviews and set up interviews with hiring managers.
- Assist hiring managers in evaluating candidates by attending interviews and providing feedback.
- Coordinating pre-employment screenings, such as reference checks, as needed.
- Serve as the point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
- Represent Buttcon at college and university career fairs, as well as other relevant networking events, to attract top talent.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external recruiters to ensure effective collaboration and a streamlined hiring process.
- Oversee and manage all recruiter submissions, ensuring they align with the required criteria and are processed efficiently.
- Ensure recruitment practices are fully aligned with Buttcon’s DEI objectives by developing and executing strategies that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion at every stage of the hiring process.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to gain a clear understanding of job requirements, key skills, and the ideal candidate profile.
- Collaborate with managers and learning and development teams to identify skill and talent gaps, and source candidates with the required skill sets to address those needs.
- Design effective sourcing strategies for active and passive candidates, utilizing job boards, social media, referrals, and other channels.
- Proactively source potential candidates using various methods, such as LinkedIn, networking events, job fairs, and employee referrals.
- Assist with preparing and sending offer letters and employment agreements to new hires.
- Verify that all required documents are completed accurately, ensuring thorough signage and completion before forwarding to the necessary parties.
- Ensure all relevant parties are informed and all needs are in place prior to the employee start date.
- Assist with HR orientation and onboarding processes as needed.
- Assist with setting up employees on the HRIS system as needed.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Director, Human Resources on the status of open positions and key recruitment metrics.
- Offer direct support to the HR team on recruitment and selection-related tasks.
- Track and analyze spending on recruitment activities, including job board sponsorships (e.g., Indeed), recruiter fees, and other related costs, ensuring the recruitment budget is being used effectively.
- Use applicant tracking systems (ATS) and maintain accurate records of all hiring activities.
- Collaborate with marketing and HR to develop and promote employer branding initiatives.
- Participate in job fairs, networking events, and other community engagement activities.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of internal communication materials (e.g., newsletters, employee announcements) to keep employees informed and engaged with company events, initiatives, and news.
- Collaborate with the HR and Marketing teams, on strategies to keep employees engaged, i.e. the companies Intranet, social events, and other team-building initiatives.
- Assist with building company engagement on the Company’s internal SharePoint page.
- Take part in Buttcon’s Employee Wellness Program and assist with the HR lead of the Program as required.
- Collaborate with the HR team to support the creation of a DEI plan and assist in the execution of related initiatives as needed.
- Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Qualification Requirements
- College or University Degree in HR or Certificate in Human Resources Management.
- Knowledge of current and relevant HR legislation.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
- Familiarity with HRIS software and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of the construction industry is an asset.
Working Condition and Environment
- Primary work location in the Head Office.
